February 12, 1997, the very first CONRAIL  loaded coal train to travel over the NBER, UFS 354, approaches Howard PA. CONRAIL, and now NS use trackage rights on the NBER to move loaded and empty coal trains between the east-west main line at Tyrone, and the north-south Buffalo line at Lock Haven.
